moments on the urban stage
My captures of moments on the urban stage images are not dispassionate records. They are captures of the raw impact and immediacy of the moment that I ‘saw’, and the simultaneous impact on my imagination. Both tangible and intangible elements of the compositions are in play. When we are captured by a book, a play, or a film we suspend disbelief and become a part of world that is depicted. I hope that my images capture you. The click is mine; the narrative of the image is yours.
My post-processing is designed only to enhance the essence of the ‘click moment’. Artificial intelligence in all its forms may be able to gloss over ‘technical imperfections’ at the click of a button, but often at a cost. Creative or manufactured are no longer opposite poles, but I feel that the final image should be a personal statement with the recognisable hand of an ‘auteur’!
I do hope you find something to enjoy.
ABOUT
“the limits of imagination are the limits of my world”
Hello. Thank you for visiting my site. It is a joy to share ideas and images with you.
My journey of exploration in photography has been relatively short, and I began without a particular plan as to where I wanted to end up! Now I find myself in a ‘good place’ shooting almost exclusively in black and white and, for much of the time, exploring the drama of life in the metropolis, or on the ‘urban stage’ as I call it.
Very broadly speaking, my images may be classed as Street. However, I am not convinced that the genre label attached to an image is helpful, or indeed necessary. Is the success or otherwise of a capture determined by how well it fits into ‘acceptable’ parameters (straitjacket) of the genre?
