Hello again

Just to let you know the website has been updated to include yet more visual treats! đŸ€”

You will notice a new image on the Home page and there is a new gallery entitled In the Moment. Taken in a number of locations, the images are, as always, more than simply records. To some extent, of course, the pictures do record what was there, but, more importantly, they are an attempt to show what I saw and felt when my imagination was fired and I ‘owned that moment’. It might have been a single stimulus or a combination that caused the ‘adrenalin rush’ – the mood, a suggested narrative, a feeling, a memory, something that stirred my sense of humour etc.

The reason I have moved increasingly to black and white is that I generally feel that the stripping away of the distractions of colour helps to isolate the most important elements of the frame as I see them. I compose and shoot almost exclusively in black and white, but the camera does record in colour at the same time so there are other options in post-processing if that works more successfully for my purpose.

I thought you might like to see the colour version of an image as recorded and the final bnw version. When I shot the picture my main interest was in the juxtaposition of and the impact of the range of natural hills beyond the horizon and the urban hills (rooftops and chimneys) in the foreground. That’s what drove the framing and post-processing. There is lots more I could try to explain but if the final image ‘works for you’ that is all that matters.

Thank you again for your interest.

I hope that your journey takes you along an ‘avenue of light’.

Take care

Brian
