Hello

Apologies for the ‘wall of silence’. I have been a bit busy preparing a display of 10 pictures that will be on show in the first week of September as a part of a large exhibition in the Mall Galleries, London.

“Life’s but a walking shadow… that struts and frets his hour upon the stage …”

I shoot almost exclusively in black and white to explore the drama on the urban stage.
The images are not dispassionate records. I try to share both the raw impact of the moment

and its impact on my imagination. Both tangible and intangible elements of the compositions are in play.
Once captured we suspend disbelief and become a part of the world that is depicted.
I hope that my images engage you. The click is mine; the narrative is yours.

As you can imagine I have a collection of many images that languish unseen on external hard drives, and I am looking forward to showing a group of them to a wider audience. The exhibition offered an opportunity to bring together and show some that explore facets of what I see as the urban stageSee below. You will have seen one or two of them before but not grouped specifically in that context.

I appreciate the fact that the location will preclude many from visiting the exhibition so I will share a virtual display with you at the time.

Meanwhile there is a new gallery on my website. We went to Whitstable recently (for the first time) and you can see what caught the eye and fired the imagination. I hope all goes well with you. Thank you for your interest and encouragement. It means a lot.

Brian
